Shameless Grace Weekly Devotional: Trusting in God's Unbelievable Promises

To be honest, God tell us and show us things that sometimes is just unbelievable. Some things that God reveal to us seems completely crazy and when we decide we're going to believe what He's said, we then start feeling crazy.

The other day I saw someone's post that said, "Noah was crazy until he wasn't." It had never rained where Noah was so it was pretty wild for him to be preparing for something that had never been seen or heard of before. Don't you know a time came when Noah saw his preparation wasn't for nothing. A time came for Noah to see that he wasn't crazy for believing the word of the Lord.

In II Kings 7 Elisha gives a word from the Lord that included some "crazy" things.

Elisha replied, “Listen to this message from the Lord! This is what the Lord says: By this time tomorrow in the markets of Samaria, six quarts of choice flour will cost only one piece of silver, and twelve quarts of barley grain will cost only one piece of silver.” 2 Kings 7:1 NLT

That was like saying by this time tomorrow all gas will be $0.99/gallon at all gas stations, all food at all stores will be priced at $1, and all cars will be on sale for $20. I'm sure reading that someone may have said "NEVER!" Hahaha anything is possible. But in this same story there was an officer who basically said never. Lol. Right after he said never Elisha told the officer that he would see God's word come true but won't be able to enjoy it.

The officer assisting the king said to the man of God, “That couldn’t happen even if the Lord opened the windows of heaven! But Elisha replied, “You will see it happen with your own eyes, but you won’t be able to eat any of it!” 2 Kings 7:2 NLT

Again, God can tell us some crazy things like a relative will be healed from an uncurable illness, you will get a home even when the world and your credit may say it's not a good time to buy a home, you'll find love, your friend or family member will be saved or delivered, and so much more! I want you to know that if God said something will happen, it's going to happen. It's not on you to make it happen. The only thing you need to do is give God your faith by believing. No matter how crazy it may sound don't let that stop you from believing what God has said. It sounds crazy because it's something new that you may have never experienced before and/or no one has ever seen or heard of anything like it.

Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert. Isaiah 43:19 KJV

When God says something, that's just what it is. Later in II Kings 7 everything that the Lord said came to pass! EVERYTHING - the prophecy saying the cost of flour and barley grain being cheap AND the officer seeing it come to pass but not being able to experience it.

'The king appointed his officer to control the traffic at the gate, but he was knocked down and trampled to death as the people rushed out. So everything happened exactly as the man of God had predicted when the king came to his house. The man of God had said to the king, “By this time tomorrow in the markets of Samaria, six quarts of choice flour will cost one piece of silver, and twelve quarts of barley grain will cost one piece of silver.” The king’s officer had replied, “That couldn’t happen even if the Lord opened the windows of heaven!” And the man of God had said, “You will see it happen with your own eyes, but you won’t be able to eat any of it!” And so it was, for the people trampled him to death at the gate!' 2 Kings 7:17-20 NLT

I'm letting you know now that things that we've heard from God is happening now! Don't be the person who doubts the word of God and miss out! Choose to believe and receive!

Say This Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank you for your beautiful word that reminds me that every word from you will come to pass. Not one word will fail at what it was sent to do. Increase my faith now so that I may continue believing your word. God, I don't want to be filled with doubt and be the person missing out on enjoying the promise you've made to me. Please, remove all doubt out of me now. In Jesus name, Amen.
